Guessing Game #midtermmakeup

I thought that Katie’s blog post was significant after reading it. She discusses some issues surrounding the Media and how it is affecting the nation. She talks about how not only does the media produce fake news, but how it’s creating a culture of fear among American. Stores have been running out of toilet paper and other items because people are scared of what may happen in the coming days/months. She talked about how the president made a statement about how the lockdown could end by easter, and how that was an example of misinformation.

I don’t know if I really agree with her on that because the issue with this coronavirus is that no one knows what is going to happen and know one really knows the best possible way to deal with it. Trump and his administration are working with the best public health advisors to try to deal with the virus and all of the repercussions it is creating. We have modeled how the US will recover after other countries, but this in itself is misinformation because as a country we are a lot different than others. Originally we were told that only older people could be affected by this, but as time went on, that was proven to be false. With this virus, everyone is learning as we go so there will be misinformation because we simply don’t know better. Everything is a guess, even at the professional level.
